How many times have you sat in front of a meal ready to eat, then in what seems like a blink of an eye, you’re nearly finished and you’re wondering where it has all gone? This happened to me earlier today, I practically shovelled my lunch in to my mouth whilst watching some nonsense on YouTube without even paying attention to what I was eating. The worst thing is that I was looking forward to it all morning as well.
One way to prevent this happening is to chew your food more. As well as actually paying attention to what you are eating, there are also many health benefits such as helping your body with the digestion process (which actually starts in the mouth), allows you to absorb more of the nutrients, may help you control your weight as you’re more likely to actually feel full when you are full rather than not giving your body enough time to be full while continuing to shovel more food in, and you may actually enjoy the taste of your meal more.
I did hear someone say that 45 is a good number to aim for however I’m not sure you can put an exact number on it as it will surely differ depending on what you’re eating, but just try to chew your food properly over the Christmas period especially, it is a time when we normally indulge so give your body a chance to digest everything with ease. This is something that I need to work on and am actually aiming this post at myself more than anyone else. Bon-appetite
