#36alive 346: Weekday Detox DAY 1 | Asparagus

Other than making your urine smell of pee, asparagus may not grab your attention all that much. If you’re suffering the results of one-too-many however, it’s definitely something to get your hands on ASAP.

Studies show that eating asparagus can help remedy hangover symptoms, due to its high levels of amino acids, minerals and antioxidants. The green vegetable helps protect liver cells against toxins, and helps metabolise alcohol more quickly in the body, thus helping remove it quicker. The levels of amino acids are much higher in the leaves than the shoots, and it comes equipped with anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties (meaning you may pee a little more than usual, but all the better if it gets the alcohol out quicker!)
