If you live in the modern world, it’s likely you’re in the habit of rushing through each day, checking your phone each time you find yourself waiting in a queue or for a train, and slowly letting your mind and body grow further and further apart.
Whilst physically stopping and ‘taking a moment’ can seem a little vague and difficult to grasp, this is a one-minute way to become more mindful and present, and you’ve already got everything you need to do it with.
Our senses connect us with the world around us, so utilising them is something we can practice doing every day to become more present and alive. Today, try to stop at least once or twice, and use each sense at a time – what can you see? What can you smell? What can you taste? What can you hear? What can you feel?
Doing this a couple of times a day can be a very good way to notice our habits, whether we’re paying attention to life or letting it slip past, and whether we’re surrounding ourselves with things that are good for us or not.
Try it and let us know how you get on!
