The world of food combining is both fascinating and confusing, determining our digestive ability, nutrient absorption, and deciding whether the meal we just ate will do more to heal or harm.
When we eat something, we don’t necessarily automatically obtain all the vitamins and minerals from that food or drink item. What we pair it with can indeed help us absorb all the goodness from what we choose to consume.
Foods like carrots, squash, sweet potato, broccoli, spinach and other green leafy vegetables, and anti inflammatory spices like Turmeric are all a lot more effective if they’re paired with a small amount of fat. These foods are what’s known as fat soluble – their nutrients are broken down and delivered far more effectively when we eat them with fat.
This fat could come from butter, ghee, olive oil or coconut oil, or your favourite salad dressing. (not the 0% fat one!) SO, the next time you’re roasting vegetables or making a salad, add a spoon of healthy fats to make your meal even healthier!
