If you watched last night’s BBC episode of Superfoods: The Real Storyyou’ll have also heard about the new berry believed to bring big benefits….

Purple foods are full of health benefits, including antioxidants and minerals, and even an ability to reduce your waistline!

The Maqui berry from Chile is a relatively recent addition to the long list of ‘superfoods’ available to us now, and it’s incredibly high in an antioxidant called anthocyanin, specifically a type called delphinidins. This type of antioxidant has powerful anti inflammatory effects, and can also inhibit the growth of colon cancer cells. Maqui berries can also suppress blood glucose, smoothing out energy levels and preventing the formation of new fat cells, thus trimming down your tum!
