Whether you are sitting at a desk all day at work, or off on a hike somewhere, or on the move throughout the day, we all need to snack. Well, we don’t really need to snack but we all like to snack. It can often be these little harmless snacks that can turn a good diet in to a not so good one. This is where a good trail mix comes in to save the day. If you’re not sure what a trail mix is then we are here to tell you. A trail mix is a mixture of things, like nuts, seeds, and dried fruit, put conveniently in a little bag which can be carried around.
There are a number of trail mix recipes out there but I’m not sure a recipe is needed, just throw combination of some of the below in to a box or lunch box and snack away…….
Nuts: Cashews, Hazelnuts, Almonds, Pistachios, Brazil Nuts, Pecans, Walnuts, Macadamias
Fruit: Raisons, Dates, Dried mango / apricots / pineapple / apple / banana / berries, Goji Berries.
Seeds: Pumpkin, Hemp, Chia, Sesame, Sunflower
Other: Coconut shavings, Cocao Nibs, Roasted Chickpeas, Wasabi Peas
I’m sure there’s loads more that we have missed so go nuts (pun very much intended) and get creative with it.
