#36alive 160: Vote

I’m sure all of you are aware that today is election today (presuming you’re reading this in the UK) and while we’re not going to show any bias and advise you who to vote for, we are going to say one thing, just make sure you do vote.

Now this may be a little hypocritical of me to say as this is the first time I have voted but I do wish I had took more of an interest in previous elections and actually contributed to the vote. I don’t know what has made me so interested this time around, maybe it’s because I am getting older, maybe it’s because it is becoming harder to ignore with constant social media posts, or maybe it’s because there is someone I actually want to vote for this time. I’m guessing it’s a combination of these things.

I could think of loads of excuses why not to vote tomorrow, for example I haven’t got the time, or they’re all the same as each other, or my vote won’t make a difference, but the fact of the matter is that everyone’s vote makes a difference and people have fought hard to get people the right to vote so I think it’s time everyone stood up to be counted, got their ass to the polling booth, and voted for who they believe in.

If you’re unsure who to vote for, I’d suggest ignoring mainstream media who may have ulterior motives on who they want to win, or maybe censoring stories to fit their criteria. I’m sure this swings both ways. Instead read the manifesto’s, listen to some of the interviews / rallies with the respective leaders, you could even try to find out who people with similar values to yourself are voting for and make your choice based on what you think is right. Here’s to a brighter future……hopefully!
