#36alive 78: Compost Banana Skins

There has been a lot of publicity – although not enough – with regards to all the rubbish piling up in landfills and plastic bottles / bags piling up on the earth affecting the environment and killing wildlife. One way to help prevent this is to compost as much as possible. We will delve further in to this subject over the course of the year, but as we are short of time today we will leave you with one simple thing you can start doing now – compost your banana skins.

Banana skins are a great natural fertiliser in the garden acting as a pest repellent also.Β They can even be thrown in any bush to help the natural restoration of the earth. So the next time you’re out and about eating a banana, keep the skin to throw in your garden, or find a bush or field and leave in a discreet place.
